Wooden building
The building is located in the historical city centre of Riga, Latvia.
It is inspired by the typical wooden lines and frames of medieval buildings.
The architectural concept is about using a modern interpretation of a typical medieval construction technique. Timber framing is in fact the modern term for medieval half-timbered constructions, where timber provides a visible skeletal frame that supports the whole building.
The project won the second prize of a International Architecture Competition.
